I bought season one years ago, and decided to start watching it now. I am surprised that some of the one star reviews are SO scathing because after finishing watching it I decided that it was not bad at all.
Other reviewers awarding it one star gave their reasons as 1 wrong region so could not watch it - entirely their own fault and 2 the discs would not work properly.
This surely would be something for Amazon and its market place to sort out. However, I would like to point out a few things.
Someone described the family as unpleasant -even the boy? Come on. And the girl- it is called adolescence- happens to many.
There was far too much use of the "f" word, common in many American films. I thought that the sex scenes were a bit obvious and slightly embarrassing, but the worst thing of all is that the characters are SO difficult to understand because they speak too quickly and mumble!!!!!!!!!!
This really annoys me. I think that the criticisms of the hysterical outbursts by Claire Danes 's character were unjust. First because she was bipolar, and second, she is working in a male dominated environment and has to prove her ability to equal the men, and no doubt try to be one step better.
On the strength of season one, I have now ordered the rest, and if they are as good as season one, then I shall not complain.
I did enjoy the background music as it as entirely appropriate and unobtrusive. So far I have just watched this First Season and have found it to be very good all round.
Claire Danes met with people who had bi-polar disease, Damian Lewis met with War Veteran,some of whom had suffered torture and isolation, had PTSD and he also read books on the subject s.
I found Mandy Patinkin's character Sol not too dissimilar to his role as Gideon in Criminal Minds, his mannerisms, his speech. I don't pretend to know if the accents of Harewood and Lewis are correct or not but I do know it must be bloody difficult to turn it on and off like a tap!
I liked the Production Design, location were nice and I thought there was a lot of attention to detail. I didn't like the music because I cannot stand jazz full-stop but heres to Season 2.
I love Homeland and ive become more and more addicted to it with every season shown. So im over the moon now that the new season is back on the tv again after a long awaited break.

One of those where you know whats going on and you find yourself telling the tv whats going on, as if the characters can hear you. Think I watched this series withing the week, having to wait for my next disc to be delivered, but its one of those where you cant wait to watch the next episode.
Really good and worth a watch. Not for the faint hearted. I believe this to be very true to life.

The series has everything, drama, romance, yes romance, but more importantly our fight against terroism.
Justly deserving lots of praise for great production, highly credible acting and some great -sub-plots.
Looking forward to S2 which I am told is even better. Brilliantly acted and packed with tension almost from the start.
It won a hat full of Awards and rightly so. It also has the courage to explore the morality of both sides positions in the Middle East conflict and show there is no morally supportable place for either side to stand.
Intelligently and well scripted and acted by a fine cast, with stellar performances from the two main characters. You'll watch one episode and find you have to watch the next immediately, and then the next and then Buy it and be prepared for some very late nights.
This series must have been quite a challenge for the American viewers who saw it first! The theme is not just about betrayal of ones Country, but for me seemed to ask the questions "Are there higher loyalties?
The series was quite gripping, and all actors very credible and human. Whilst we are left with a true understanding of the nature of Damian Lewis' character, the final episode leaves the viewer on a cliff hanger wanting to know how events will unfold!
I have purposely not watched the unfolding series 2, preferring to wait for its release on dvd.

If I watch a show, I want it to be good. Breaking bad good, so I was surprised when I started watching this actually how good it was.
The acting is superb. The story great. The writing is incredible and to be honest I cannot fault it. The picture quality of the blu ray played on a PS4 is crisp and the sound is great.
It may not be for everyone, but it's one of the best shows I have seen by far. A must own on blu ray. Credo di poterne consigliare l'acquisto.
This show is worth the time to watch over and over - both Claire and Damian deserve their awards I am still not ready to watch season I have read all about how it would have been unrealistic to keep him alive, but I am sure they could have found a way E' bipolare, e dipende dai farmaci.
